The Charles Schwab Challenge returns each spring to Colonial Country Club one of America’s most respected golf venues. Colonial opened in 1936 and quickly became known as “Hogan’s Alley” because Fort Worth legend Ben Hogan won here five times. The course rewards precision more than power, with narrow fairways, small greens and the famous “Horrible Horseshoe,” a brutal three-hole stretch that can ruin a round in minutes.

Colonial’s course record is 61, shared by six players, a reminder that low scoring still demands flawless control. The tournament has produced champions such as Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Jordan Spieth and Justin Rose, while Ben Griffin arrives as defending champion after his 2025 victory.

Among the favorites for this year are Ludvig Åberg, Justin Thomas, Russell Henley and Hideki Matsuyama, all well suited to Colonial’s strategic style.
