Sungjae Im held the lead after Friday at the Valspar Championship, shooting 2-under 69 to reach 9-under, one shot ahead of David Lipsky, who fired a 65. Im rebounded from a shaky front nine with key back-nine birdies, including a 7-foot putt on the 17th to take the lead. Chandler Blanchet and Doug Ghim were two shots back at 7-under. Brandt Snedeker fell to 5-under after a 72, tied with Jordan Smith, Matt Fitzpatrick, Marco Penge and Alex Smalley. Brooks Koepka was 4-under in his return to Innisbrook. Defending champion Viktor Hovland missed the cut. The firm, fast Copperhead Course has made scoring difficult, keeping the leaderboard tight heading into the weekend.
