South Africa's Zander Lombard impressed on the second day of the Soudal Open at Rinkven International Golf Club, sharing the lead with France's Tom Vaillant as they head into the weekend. Lombard's defining moment came with a stellar 31-foot birdie putt on the final hole, joining Vaillant at the top after 36 holes.
Lombard, starting on the back nine, birdied the 11th, then made consecutive birdies at the 16th and 17th, concluding the back nine in 32. He added birdies on the first and fifth holes, with a single bogey at the third.
Vaillant delivered another bogey-free round, shooting a stunning seven-under 64. His consistency was clear with three birdies starting from the fifth hole, a spectacular 50-foot putt at the 15th, and a final birdie on the 17th.
The duo is three strokes ahead of five competitors. Meanwhile, Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts bid an emotional farewell, ending his career after missing the cut by two strokes but cherishing memories shared with family and fans.
