Jordan Gumberg surged into the lead at the Hainan event with a late run of five consecutive birdies, finishing at eight under par and one shot clear of Jorge Campillo. Gumberg had been three under after a bogey on his 13th hole but caught fire with the putter following a recent switch, sealing a dramatic finish.

Campillo also impressed, briefly taking the lead with a stretch of four straight birdies before ending one shot back. Several players sit close behind after strong rounds of 66, including Wenyi Ding, Jason Scrivener, Dylan Frittelli, Thriston Lawrence and Aaron Cockerill.

The tournament features a new two-course format, adding variety and challenge early in the week, with many players praising the entertaining Vintage Course.
