Freddy Schott shot a six-under 66 to lead by one stroke after the first round of the 2026 Hero Indian Open at DLF G&CC. The German made a fast start with six birdies in his first 12 holes and responded to two late bogeys with immediate birdies to stay in front. Defending champion Eugenio Chacarra recovered from a slow start, one over after five holes, with six birdies to post a 67 and sit one behind after birdieing the 18th. Dan Bradbury finished third on 68 after a strong finish, while Niklas Nørgaard, Martin Couvra, Calum Hill and Gregorio De Leo were tied for fourth on 69. Schott said his recent win in Bahrain had boosted his confidence, while Chacarra said patience was key on the difficult course.
