Wyndham Clark is back in the winner’s circle on the PGA TOUR after capturing the THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson 2026 — but afterward, much of the conversation centered less on golf and more on the journey back.

The American opened his post-win interview by referencing “what happened at Oakmont,” where he damaged a locker during last year’s U.S. Open after a moment of frustration. The incident eventually led to Oakmont Country Club banning Clark from the property until several conditions were met, including repayment for damages and counseling.

“The best thing about having a downfall like that is the comeback afterward,” Clark said following the victory.

Over the past year, Clark has spoken openly about the mental challenges that have followed him throughout his career. After his breakthrough victory at the U.S. Open 2023, he climbed as high as world No. 3, but form issues and visible frustration gradually resurfaced.

As recently as this year’s PGA Championship, Clark was seen smashing a club into signage after a poor shot.

This week, though, something looked different.

At TPC Craig Ranch, Clark played with a calmness that even surprised himself. He made more than 250 feet of putts over the weekend and stormed to victory at 30 under par.

“It almost felt like playing at home,” Clark said. “I was just calm all week.”
